Our

Story

Meagan Friedman is the driving force behind Quills and Cosmos Press, a women-owned publishing house that champions the voices of women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other underrepresented communities in science fiction and fantasy. As a bisexual woman with a love for stories that push boundaries, Meagan has created a space where unique voices can thrive.

The idea for Quills and Cosmos Press sparked during a class on science fiction and fantasy literature, where the professor broadened the canon to include women and minority authors. While Meagan has always loved the works of Tolkien, Asimov, and Martin, this new perspective was a breath of fresh air and inspired her to create a publishing house dedicated to inclusive storytelling.

Currently working on a master's degree in Publishing, Meagan combines academic knowledge with practical industry experience. Quills and Cosmos Press recently signed its first independent novel, The Ice Moves for No One, marking an exciting new chapter for the press.

When she’s not immersed in the world of publishing, Meagan is a busy mom to three teenagers, a wife, and a dog lover. She has a soft spot for London, where she enjoys a quiet moment with tea in Covent Garden. A lifelong reader and lover of speculative fiction, Meagan’s personal library is filled with everything from classic epics to modern sci-fi gems. She’s an active member of the publishing community, regularly participating in industry events and writing groups. Passionate about finding fresh voices that challenge the status quo, Meagan is always on the lookout for stories that expand the boundaries of speculative fiction.
